When the Boot Scan has finished, if it finds a threat, does it stop with the details displayed or does it continue with the normal boot-up after a set time? I left the scan running and nobody was present when it finished. It would be useful to have record of some sort, surely it's not that difficult?
Hello Glen,
Please be informed that Boot time scan is different from normal anti virus scan and no report of it is saved on your computer. It will display only if there is any threat is found during the boot time scan. If no threats were detected, you can be assured that boot time scan was clean.
I would also like to inform you that viewing scan reports (for other types of scans excluding Boot time scan) has changed in the new interface. To generate a scan report please follow the below steps,(for example: Deep virus scan is considered.)
- Open AVG
- Open Scan setting (symbol of gear, bottom of the window)
- Open Deep Virus Scan setting (symbol of gear, Deep Virus Scan tile)
- Click on "Report file"
- Check "Generate report", fill "Filename" (e.g. AVGScanReport), and check all reported items (Infected items, Hard errors, Soft errors, OK Items, Skipped items)
- Click on "OK" and "OK"
You can view the scan report from this location C:ProgramData\Avg\Antivirus\report on your computer.
Where are the scan log files for AVG Antivirus Free version 17.5.3022.
Windows 7
I ran a boot time scan (unattended, it takes 3 hours) and there was no results shown at the end which stayed on the screen (according to my uncle who was present.).
Under settings -> maintenance there is a place to limit the size of the scan logs, or clear them, so they must exist.

Hi Alok
Yes that would be great if you could ge the boot time scan to save a log of what it did/found (even if the system is clean), please. I ran one yesterday and was trying to find it then discovered this thread. Like those above I wasn't present for the entire scan and saw it had found issues with one folder which I'll get rid of permanently, but that was part way through the scan and I therefore don't know if other issues were found.
Thanks
Kevin
Bill,
Currently, we do not have an option to generate reports for Boot Time Scan. We will take this as a feedback to improve our protection. You can also submit a feedback though AVG Antivirus Free user interface (Open it > menu > about > submit a feedback). We can check the reports for Deep Scan, USB/DVD scan, File and folder scan and Schedule scan.
Regards,
Alok.
Kevin, you can submit this as a feedback as mentioned earlier.
Thank you.
