AVG Secure Browser Memory Hog - help

Hello Jeanne.
We regret the inconvenience caused.
I would request you to reinstall AVG Secure Browser once and verify the issue.

I have AVG Internet Security, VPN, virus scan. I've downloaded AVGBrowser but look what Task Manager shows. Not only is this a bigger memory hog than Firefox, but when I try to run Crap Cleaner, the browser won't close and I can't force it to close. I've change Settings to not run in background, but that hasn't changed anything.

This ilink goes to a screen shot of Task Manager with AVGBrowser open with ONE TAB (the tab for where I am to write this.) What gives?  It all slows down so much I have to reboot to get any speed back, and then Task Manager ends up like this again.

I'm running on Windows 7 (I don't have time to learn anything new). But this browser is supposed to be compatible with it.

Thanks for any advice.

Hello Jeanne. Thank you very much for taking the time to communicate with AVG. My name is Shawn and I am writing to you on behalf of the AVG Senior Support team.

First and foremost, I applaud you for your tech savviness at being 69-years young, and for asking good questions.

With the shared screenshot you provided, specific to your proccesses, I can confirm this is the intended behavior of your installd AVG Secure Browser. A lot of the processes are specific to individual features in your AVG Secure Browser.

From both shared screenshots, your proccesses show minimal CPU usage and normal memory consumption (approximatley 1GB). On a Win 7 Pro with 8GB of RAM, you have great resource for an older machine, and you should not be experiencing any performance disruptoin using AVG Secure Browser.

I trust this explanation and information help clarify your concern. Let me know if there is anything else I may help you with. Regards, Shawn

Here's the information. I won't be surprised if the answer is my operating system, processor, RAM, etc is not enough for all Secure Browser functionalities.

I'm rather good at finding my way thru applications and stuff, but I'm 69 and don't want to go thru buying a new system, restalling my favored settings, learning all the new software. I just want to get by, at this point!

Thanks.
Jeanne

Uninstalled and reinstalled. Task Manager shows same huge number of processes. Is this "normal" and I just don't have fast enough processor to handle it all?

Thanks.
