AVG Service Hangs on shutdown

Hello Stefan,

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Actually when you optimize your PC some of the functions of the windows will be altered inorder to make your system perform better.
If you set the mode on AVG PC TuneUp to "STANDARD" then your windows features should work like normal before.
If you had chosen "TURBO" mode then it will limit some of the windows features.
If you would install the program again and set up the mode to Standard and check for the issue then we can confirm whether the issue is with the mode of PC tuneup.

Hello Chris,
We can understand your concern. Since you have mentioned that your system is performing very slow, in this case we recommend you to purchase AVG PC Tune up to increase your system performance. AVG PC TuneUp is a computer maintenance and optimization tool that you can install together with AVG. I just did a clean install of Windows on my PC, and installed AVG Free Antivirus 16.131.7924.
The shutdown is extremely slow. I turned on Verbosestatus in the registry and found that a step of "Stopping AVG Service service" hangs on the shutdown for over a minute, which is causing very slow shutdowns and restarts.

Again, this was a clean install of Windows 7 Professional 64 bit, and AVG has been the only antivirus installed on this PC. What can I do to speed this up?

Specs:
Intel Core i7 960 3.2GHz
12GB RAM
Nvidia GTX960
Windows 7 Professional 64 bit SP1

Thank you,

What is causing the service to hang on shut

Thank you for the detailed information.
Have you installed the trial version of AVG PC TuneUp?

Hello!
As I wrote in my first post:

"Btw: I have the same problem with a fresh installed AVG TuneUp Pro Software I bought yesterday on my Windows 10 PC."

The translation:

Description:
The Service AVG Service coult not shutdown properly after receiving Preshutdown-Controlelement

and

The Service AVG PC TuneUp Service coult not shutdown properly after receiving Preshutdown-Controlelement

So imho it depends on this two services which can not be shutdown properly…

Hello!
I did not make any change in the mode settings, its still in Standard mode.
Only things I did, is to perform the initial scan and repair/optimize.

you wrote:

I told you, that after deinstallation everything worked fine, and after reinstallation same issue as before with shutdown.
Above (was pending) I wrote 2 reports fom Windows Event viewer which repotrs a problem with AVG Services.

Hello Aravindh!
Did you realy read the concern and question from Chris???
He wrote that he made a clean install of windows, and installed the AVG Antivirus Software. And that exact that AVG Antivirus Software slow down his Shut-don process. He aske what he can do against the hanging "Stopping AVG Service service"…
And now you tell him to install another AVG Software to solve his problem??
Are you serious?

Btw: I have the same problem with a fresh installed AVG TuneUp Pro Software I bought yesterday on my Windows 10 PC.
After instalation the Shut-Down process ist verry slow and "hangs" also with the same issue "Stopping AVG Service service". And additionaly my PC wont go to S3 Sleep mode anymore. When I click "Save energy" the monitors turn of for a second, and then they wake up again and nothing else happens. This happens not all the time. When I restart my PC (after 2 Min. shutting down process because of "Stopping AVG Service service") my PC going to sleep with no problems. BUT if my machine is on for a while, it happens. I dont start any programs or do sth. else but surfing or checking emails.

Before i installed TuneUp everything was fine. I deinstalled TuneUp with your AVG deinstaller and everything was fine again. Reinstallation and same issu as I described…
So which advice will you give me?
