AVG slows my entire computer when downloading with Newsbin Pro

Hello Dahwich,

Thank you for reaching AVG support channel. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused. AVG slows your entire computer when downloading with Newsbin Pro. We will check and help you to resolve it.

1. Confirm the version of operating sysem installed in your device.
2. What are all the AVG products installed in your device?
3. Does your device works slow when starting up the device? (or) accessing any specific program?

We look forward for your response.

When downloading files with Newsbin Pro, AVG uses several cores of my computer and half my SSD speed. It is constantly scanning.

The only thing which stops it is turning off detections completely in the AVG settings.

I have tried to stop it with exceptions to no avail.

I have exceptions for the Newsbin Pro EXE, it's folder, and it's working temp folder. The only thing I don't have an exception for is the actual download folder as that would defeat the purpose of having a virus checker in the first place.

Is there a way to have AVG ignore Newsbin Pro downloads and only scan if the files are copied or executed?

Thank you for taking the time to write back to us, Dahwich.
I understand that AVG scans slows your PC while downloading certain files.
You can set exceptions only if you know that the files and websites you want to exclude are safe. Otherwise all files will be scanned.
Setting an exception will exclude individual files, folders, or websites from all scans and shields.
Refer the following article to add the websiteor folder to exception: Excluding certain files or websites from scanning in AVG Antivirus (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlName=avg-antivirus-scan-exclusions&q=exception&supportType=home)
If AVG services takes more space than actual, please provide the screenshot of the same to check this for you.

I am using Windows 10 Pro 22H2

I have AVG Internet Security 24.9.9452.875

My device works fine when starting up and using other programs. I have configured AVG to exclude things like compiling with Visual Studio and work like that which would be slow otherwise. I would like to be able to do the same for Newsbin Pro.

Thank you
