In this case, I request you to repair AVG Protection (http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-repair-AVG) and reboot your computer once. After reboot, please check if your Outlook is working with enabled AVG Email protection.
If the issue still persists, then please let me know the AVG Version (open AVG Protection > Menu > about) installed on your computer to assist you further.

I can no longer receive emails in Outlook 2010 after the last update to the virus definitions but not the engine. Virus Defs 180508-6, Engine 1833051. Noticed problems today 9th May in UK. When I try to receive emails from all my accounts, I get the send receive box come up and it just gets stuck and does not check anything but no error message from Outlook so I have to cancel. I have had to stop the email scanning protection on AVG to receive emails. I am very worried about this. I work from home and cannot work now. What can I do to get it fixed. Definately one of AVG virus updates that have stopped me from receiving email. As soon as I turn the email protection off it works perfectly. I have two email accounts with different ISP providers and I could not receive email in any of them, so it would be more than a concidence if the incoming servers of both providers went wrong at the same time. Please help me sort this problem out.
