AVG stops Windows 10 PC opening programs

I've used AVG for 10 years with no problems but since the middle of December after perhaps an hour of use PC refuses to open programs I am using or have been using such as windows explorer and Open Office It tells me no app associated with the file. Restart PC it may work for a few minutes but problem is back almost straight away. Sometimes PC doesn't start and desktop flashes on and off repeatedly. I have uninstalled AVG Ultimate and PC Tune up and PC is working fine. Help please

1. Please confirm whether have you removed AVG Internet Security or any other program. 
2. Please reinstall AVG Internet Security and check whether you can access all the programs. 
3. If you have any issues with it, let us disable AVG components one by one and check which one causing it. Refer the below article to know how to disable AVG Internet Security components :

  1. Yes I have removed AVG Ultimate and AVG Tune up.
    2. I have tried reinstalling both and have the same problems so have removed them again.
    3. I will now re install again and try your suggestions.
