AVG Support About Meltdown and Spectre

Erick,
Thank you for bringing this to our notice. We are aware of the new windows update and checking it with our developers.
Once we receive an update, will post it here.

At least for Internet Security, the answer from AVG is correct. At my machine the registry key is created since at least yesterday when I checked it.

So I assume if I patch my windows, i won't get BSOD anymore since AVG already support dual pages table like this article said right ? (see pic below)User-added image

I also have AVG Ultimate on my Win 10 Home, but Key="HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" Subkey="SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\QualityCompat" Value="cadca5fe-87d3-4b96-b7fb-a231484277cc" Type="REG_DWORD” is not in registry and my Windows do not get Microsoft patch due to teh lack of key. Please advise / fix.

Daniel, General topic info… "Business products" support… For assistance have a look @ this AVG webpage (https://support.avg.com/business_contact_form?l=en_US). Please be informed that this Community forum basically deals with 'home' version of AVG products. Furthermore the "Business products" area has now been removed from the 'Community topics' list @ the top LHS of this page. Finally please be informed that the support for "Business products" is not now available in this Community.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4072699/important-information-regarding-the-windows-security-updates-released

cause I don't see AVG listed in this list

sorry if my explanation not clear
i know AVG already compatible with windows new patch, what im trying to ask what if i didnt update my windows yet?

my avg already the latest version, i already get the registry to receive update, but i didnt update my windows yet. so the question is

will AVG ( the one that already compatible to windows latest patch) still working okay even if i didnt update my windows to the latest version?

Well it wasn't working for me, I couldn't get the registry key and telling it to update did no good.

Today I just figured out that my AVG Internet Security Version: 16.151.8013 is an older version and telling it to update does not make it the safe/fixed 2017 version.  But downloading the newest version from AVG kept my license and expiration date.  And now I have the registry key. YMMV

Thanks, but in my registry there is no such "QualityCompat" key. I searched the whole registry. So I will try uninstall/install method.

This helped me… I contacted AVG about 2 machines I have…one got the regkey upon an AVG update and reboot. My other machine  did not and there didn't appear to be any update for AVG. I contacted, via chat, AVG support. The 2 people I chatted with seemed to be cluesless as to what the issue or the fix was. The first support person directed me to  " check for windows updates," I told him that .I get a message saying that there is no updates available  Then he told me "you need to contact microsoft".

The 2nd Tech I chatted told me That "to resolve this you can disable AVG and update your windows."

Neither solution seemed correct. I stumbled acfcros one of the forums that suggest to try and do a repair of AVG the reboot. I trried that and lo and behold after the repair reboot, the regky was installed. I was then able to get the windows update KB4056892 which address the meldown issue

Hi Erick,
I get your point. AVG will work good even though you did not update the Windows update patch. The possible issue we might face here is your computer is open to vulnerabilities. I would recommend you to do Windows update immediately once your Internet data limit is increased. This will ensure that your computer is fully protected.
Thanks, Shankara.

Glad ot hear it. Can you please tell what version you have and when was the last program update you had?

Hi,

Chiming in to say the latest version of AVG Business Edition 16.161.8039 does not set the registry entry either. This issue doesn't seem resolved.

Hi guys, AVG 2017 is compatible and adding the registry key since 1/3/2018.

We appreciate your efforts, Gary.

Please confirm whether you could download windows update without any error after reinstalling AVG to the latest version.

Hello Mike,
We have confirmed with our development team that the AVG 2017 is compatible and adding the registry key since 1/3/2018.
Best regards,
Alok.

Daniel,
The latest version of AVG program is 17.9.3040.

What is the version number that is updated version, so that I can verify that my computers have the latest software version?

"…adding the registry key since 1/3/2018".  What does that mean?  You're in the process but haven't completed adding it?  For what products?  When will you be actually providing updated products or patches?  Will you be notifying customers and/or making any public statements about what your users can/should do?  Etc.
Microsoft evidently does not agree that AVG is compatible.
Please inform users/public.
