I have not performed the requested uninstall and re-install of AVG Free. Firstly, I don't want Zen and apparently if I do re-install I have to take it. Secondly, within our home there are 5 computers I look after and it turns out that all of them have this same AVG Tray Icon problem. When I look through the AVG Support Community, I see all sorts of people complaining about this same problem which seems to have started in late October.
I don't believe my complaint is in any way unique to my computer. I think AVG has a software problem and removal and re-install is not the solution. Has this problem been elevated to the software developers and is a proper fix coming soon?

We do understand your concern. However, please be informed that the new icon will not show status of update nor scan and the right click opens totally new menu (for Zen) with different options than before - there is no right click menu for stand alone products like AVG Internet Security and AVG AntiVirus without Zen.

I am running AVG Free Ver.16.121.7859 on a Windows XP machine and have noticed within the last few days that the AVG Tray Icon is behaving strangely.
The icon is in it's usual place, but no longer reports when AVG is updating, right clicking on the icon no longer brings up the small menu that used to be there. However, left clicking still does open the AVG GUI.
What is wrong?

- Once uninstalled download the installation file using the link : http://www.avg.com/download to reinstall your AVG program.
5. Run the downloaded file to start the installation process.
6. Follow the instructions on your screen.
7. Complete the installation and restart your computer.

I've noted above that it is Ver.16.121.7859 I am running. Is that not the latest version out there?

We are extremely sorry to keep you informed that from latest update of the AVG program the AVG Zen component is mandatory to be installed along with the Free version of the AVG program. The download link I have provided will install the AVG Free program with the Zen Interface.
