Hello Patrick.
Thank you for contacting AVG Community Support.
We are glad to know that you wish to proceed with upgrading your subscription AVG Ultimate.
AVG Secure VPN is a virtual private network that secures your internet connection using an encrypted tunnel to disguise your real location.
Streaming websites has their own privacy policies. Certain streaming services has taken counter measures to block its users from accessing its content through Secure VPN servers.
While we do continue to add new servers and ip addresses, they are quite fast to identify the same.
However, you can try our streaming servers such as Gotham city in the AVG Secure VPN to access the streaming platforms.
I hope this answers your question.
Please let us know if you need any other help with AVG.
We appericate your understanding.
Thank you for the reply. A few more questions if you don't mind: Can VPN be turned off or is it active all the time? And what protection would I lose by not having it active? If it is active, is there a procedure for accessing the internet each time? Apologies if these are basic questions. Thank you.
Thank you for writing us back, Patrick.
You have both option you can either turn on auto connect which keeps VPN ON all time (or) you can manually trun On\Off VPN.

I'm thinking of upgrading to AVG Ultimate and I've read some VPN's can be blocked by Netflix. Does this apply to AVG and other streaming platforms?
