AVG Ultimate failure, again

Hello Leland,

I understand this must be upsetting.
It looks like you have confirmed that the issue was resolved after performing a reinstallation.
I am not sure why the issue has occurred again.
With the latest version 18.4.3056, "Data Safe" feature is removed and files saved in data safe can be retrieved using the option (Sensitive Data Shield) available under "Privacy" component.
There is a known issue with "Hacker Attacks" components and it is confirmed that the problem is with the user interface and not with the component.
I assure you that AVG Firewall service will be running in the background and protecting your PC.
I request you to wait for the fix to get released.
If you have AVG Secure VPN activated on your PC, then you shouldn't get suggestions from PC TuneUp to install it.
Could you please confirm whether AVG Secure VPN is active on your PC?

I have AVG Ultimate Internet Security version 18.4.3056, AVG PC TuneUp version 16.71.3.2306 and AVG Secure VPN version 1.2.632.

AVG Ultimate Internet Security is continuing to fail and is continuing to indicate that the computer does not have protection regarding hacker attacks, privacy and payments. It also states I should upgrade to “Sensitive Data Shield.”

AVG PC TuneUp states the computer should be upgraded to a higher anti-virus level and that the computer should be upgraded to VPN. VPN is installed on the computer and I thought AVG Ultimate Internet Security version 18.4.3056 is as high a version as AVG goes.

Previously, the AVG failure forced me to uninstall and reinstall the AVG product in order to get it to work. That failure occurred after running an AVG computer scan. The following is a copy/paste of an email with AVG concerning that AVG product failure.

Original question:
Have AVG Ultimate Internet Security which is up to date and in force. Today the home window of that software indicated the system was unprotected from hacker threats. There was a "click here" option to "learn more." That click launched the internet and opened an AVG window which wasn't clear if AVG was trying to sell me something or if there was a failure in my installed AVG Ultimate Security. The page had a lot of sales pitch stuff about upgrading to a higher level of AVG products. I called AVG who only wanted to do a remote session on my computer. I cancelled that and am in the process of trying to determine if this is a legitimate issue or if AVG is using an installed and paid for product to generate more income. Does anyone know? Should I just ignore it?

Reply:
Lee, need not worry. AVG 18.4 version has been released, so you won't get any issues with AVG product.

End of email.

That product version is installed and verified. Last night a check disk for errors was run. This morning, the described AVG failure was discovered.
