AVG attempted to update about a week ago. It needed me to reboot my PC. I did. Ever since, my PC will not boot without disabling ELAM at the advanced startup menu. A few seconds after the windows icon appears, it attempts and fails to auto repair the problem. When I tell it Windows to reboot and display advanced startup options, disabling ELAM works and I'm able to boot my computer.
Running a complete virus scan, AVG doesn't detect any viruses.
I have tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling AVG from Programs and Features (uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled). Even with AVG uninstalled, it still fails to boot unless I disable ELAM. I have tried disabling the features in AVG that run at and before boot. I have even ran an elevated command prompt and disabled ELAM drivers (bcdedit /set {current} disableelamdrivers yes). Still won't boot without letting windows fail to boot, going into the advanced startup menu, and pressing 8 to disable ELAM.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Thank you Bhuvaneswari. sfc /scannow ran successfully but found no problems.
I did find your hidden removal tool and used it. That took care of my problem. I have successfully reinstalled AVG and my computer boots in 30 seconds like it used to with no problems.
Thank you. Have a great day!
