Avg update made computer unable to boot

Hello Xavier,

Sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Have you tried booting your PC into Safe mode once?
May I know the operating system of your PC?

Hi. I let AVG update itself earlier this evening when I was ducking out of home for a bit. When I came back, it was frozen on a black screen, so I restarted it and ever since the computer has been unable to boot.
I have since tried using an avg rescue USB to rename the avg files in the windows\system32\drivers folder from their .sys filetypes to .old (which I read to do online), but I am still stuck. Now my computer is saying the "pc needs to be repaired" as the file windows\system32\drivers\avgboota.sys is missing (renamed) and I get an error code 0xc000000f.

Please help! I need to get a heap of work done and I am totally stuck! Do I need to undo all of the avg boot file name changes I made?
