I have tried everything that you and Alok have suggested. I have run the clear and the removal software twice now - but when it comes to re-install it gets so far and then gives this error message.
0xC0070005: The added waitable object already existed in the collection.
I ran everything again - for the third time - and got the same error message.

Hello Alok
Thank you. There is another issue. The AVG shows my Computer is not protected (This is a new phenomenon). I have gone into Components and tried to switch on the Software Analyzer – but it will not go green, for the ON position and keeps staying Red.
I have restarted the computer but it makes no difference.
