Thank you for the info.  Yes, this is what I tried.  All the settings match, but this doesn't do what I need it to.  I don't need it to scan my outgoing email,  I need it to act as a proxy server like it used to do.

It's a shame, because this is the only thing that really kept me using AVG.

You know, the ones you defined in the advanced settings?  They're gone.  Are they really gone, or just misplaced?

I can't complain.  I was using this feature in an uninteded way.  Thank you for confirming the change in the way the scanner works!

I request you to have a look at this article: http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-troubleshoot-your-email-scanning-protection and edit the port settings which should help you in getting the email scanner setup.

Hello Bill,

I appreciate your patience. The new version doesn't support the STARTTLS. The scanning works differently and setup in the AVG is required to scan e-mails. Unfortunately, you have to find different tool for scanning.
