Nick, Otherwise if that doesn't help… Mac OS support… Please click on the following link (http://avgclick.me/AVGtechnical) and choose Yes for the Question "Are you currently using any paid/trial AVG products?" inspite of using the Free version and fill out your details, select as Mac OS then the name of AVG Program that you installed in your device and in description please completely explain about your issue and finally click on the 'Start Chat' option. You will start a live, online chat with one of the AVG agents.

I just installed Sierra on my MacBook pro (17" MPB).  I've been running AVG on it for a long time without issue, but now with Sierra if I click the battery it shows AVG as using significant energy.  I installed Sierra yesterday and this has been constant.  It shows in Activity Monitor on the energy tab that AVG is the only app I'm running at the moment that 'requires high performance GPU'.  I would say that's a bug in the software, because there's no way AVG needs high performance graphics.  

I've uninstalled it for now, but would like to reinstall it when there's a fix.  Anyone?
