AVG virus definitions outdated

On my phone (Samsung Galaxy S6) I got a notice after my device was scanned saying that the virus definition is out of date. Clicked resolve nothing happened. I went to settings and updates, clicked Check for update and it came back saying everything is up to date but I still have the red warning telling me it is not up to date. It says in the settings 'Virus definitions version: 180521-06 (1 Jan 2014)'. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app but nothing has changed.
Would love some help if anyone has an idea on how to fix this problem.

Thank you

Emma, this is a followup regarding the virus definitions out of date on AVG for Android. Our developers are aware of this and confirmed an update will be released soon with a fix. Meanwhile, I ensure your device is protected and request you to keep the auto-update of apps is enabled in Google play store. Click on this link https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/113412?hl=en for instructions to enable it if you have not already.

Once the fix is rolled out, you will get a notification and the AVG app will be updated automatically. After updating AVG app, restart your device and check for the status.
Thank you for your understanding!

Hello, Emma.
I regret for any inconvenience this may have caused. Could you provide a screenshot ( http://avgclick.me/getscreenshot ) of the warning message? Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions to upload the screenshot.
You could try to reset AVG app to resolve the issue. To do so, navigate to the location mentioned below.
Device Menu -> Settings -> Apps/Application Management -> AVG Antivirus -> Tap on clear cache and clear data -> Force stop the app once.
