Hello Edward,
I am sorry to know about what happened to your PC.
I assure you that it isn't happening due to AVG.
The AVG Antivirus free latest version has additional features to scan.
It will scan for performance issues on your PC that includes registry issues, system and cache files etc.
The issues found on your PC will be listed and it will have resolve button. When you click on resolve it will ask you to purchase the license for AVG PC TuneUp product.
Only if you purchase the license for it, the issues found will be resolved.
In your case, this hasn't happened and there is no chance for AVG deleting the registry issues that was found.
You can try system restore once if you have already created the restore point.
Thank you.
Hello Community,
Last night I was asked to update AVG, and I did. I also did a scan of my computer. Nothing was found, but it did mention that there were a few issues with my computer. I paid special attention to Registry Issues; since there were only three. I told selected AVG to ignore and continued to use my computer till I shut it down for the night.
This morning I turned on my computer and all my Libraries and documents are missing. I looked in my event viewer and was told (paraphrasing) that my access to my computer is denied because three registry files are missing. They seem to be the same ones that were noticed by AVG the night before.
A quick google search showed me that I could go to the Virus Vault and restore these files (in case I might have pressed the wrong button or something). But I could not find the Virus Vault and the Quarantine folder is empty as well.
Is there any thing I can do to reverse what AVG has done. Or any other place to look to see if AVG is holding those files, preventing access from Window to utilize them.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated,
Ed
