I'm having the same problem with AVG VPN, the "exclude private (trusted) network" is unchecked, and I still have to connect manually.
I have been having the same problem and while i did what you advised here and it worked, i need to mention that on another PC i left it as it was with "exclude private network" checked. And evry time i start that PC VPN is turned on at start up. So both computers had the sme settings but only one would turn on VPN. So in this case the problem still exists.
Lynda, we realize your concern with remote access.
We believe that you should have enabled "exclude private (trusted) network option in AVG Secure VPN.
This means that AVG Secure VPN will not be turned on when your PC is connected to your private (home network).
Please open AVG Secure VPN program window.
Click on "gear" icon to open settings.
Click on "network security" option and deselect the option that says "exclude private (trusted) network.
This should help you to get AVG Secure VPN on any network.

My AVG VPN is not automatically connecting when the computer is turned on. Both indications in the settings for automatic connections are marked. I have reinstalled the application twice … still does not work properly. I am able to manually connect but it is inconvenient. Please advise.

No. I will not have another person accessing my computer. I have had too many 'new' issues arise after such a session and no permanent resolution. Are you telling me that there is no 'fix' of this issue without someone digging into my computer?

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused. Could you please change the network profile in AVG Secure VPN and check it?
Please follow the steps below :
Open AVG Secure VPN - Click on Menu - Settings - Select Network Security in the left panel - Click Current Network Profile. - Set the profile as Public.
