AVG VPN slowed my system

Hi Jay,

We're glad to help you with this.
It is recommended to upgrade to higher operating system to experience better results with all softwares (latest versions).
However, we'd like to clarify that you may experience a slower internet connection when using AVG Secure VPN. This is because a VPN encrypts traffic and data before sending it to a server.
Depending on the distance and capacity of the server, this process may cause a slightly slower, but safer, internet connection.

Please find the minimum system requirements for AVG Secure VPN :

  • Windows 11 except Mixed Reality and IoT Edition; Windows 10 except Mobile and IoT Edition (32 or 64-bit); Windows 8/8.1 except RT and Starter Edition (32 or 64-bit); Windows 7 SP1 or later, any Edition (32 or 64-bit)
  • Windows fully compatible PC with Intel Pentium 4 / AMD Athlon 64 processor or above (must support SSE3 instructions)
  • 256 MB RAM or above
  • 300 MB free space on the hard disk
  • Internet connection to download, activate, and use the VPN service
  • Optimal standard screen resolution no less than 1024 x 768 pixels is recommended.

I am using AVG VPN. It was referred to me by my friend who has been using it for a long time. It is working fine. I am able to connect my internet with the desired location but it makes my system slow. I am using Windows 7 ultimate and my hardware specifications are
Intel core i3 processor 3rd Generation.
2 Gb RAM
500 GB Hard  Hitachi HTS725050A7E630

I am thinking to upgrade my system. My system is getting slow because of RAM or Processor Hard drive what are the system requirements for using AVG VPN?

I'm not an official AVG responder but I can tell you that my VPN runs in the background and uses very little resources. Using a VPN can and often will slow down your internet download and upload speeds and this can vary greatly for a number of reasons.
