Hello Kris,
We regret for the inconvenience you are facing with uninstalling the AVG program. You can try following the instructions on the article http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-uninstall-AVG-Toolbar-homepage-and-Secure-Search-from-your-browser to uninstall the AVG WebTuneUp program. Regarding the issue with the popup's many of our users find these offers useful: they rely on them to upgrade to our higher levels of protection. We also handpick offers from our other products or those of partners we feel can add to your security or digital experience.
But we do understand the repeated appearance of the same message is frustrating and we are always working on improving your experience with AVG. Also the frequency of pop ups can be controlled directly from the app. See How to Change the Frequency of Pop-Up Notifications article : http://avgread.me/29lFofA for details how to change it.
Is removal related to performance? Yes. Reason: installation and uninstallation should be trademarks of a legitimate product.
Folks, where can my remedy be improved here in removing what began as a free trial that morphed into a Pro Trial that after 30 days trapped me (Ad unremovable) to purchase?
After safe mode, CP/Prog&Fea uninstall, reboot, repeat with removal tool for Web Tuneup, then see C: drive Program Files and Programs (86). Manually delete folders. Back to CP Pro&Fea, right click on AVG WT and say remove from List. This remedy is flawed. Ask your developer to fill in the gaps.
Also, you need to return to having a truly free version. You and the other top AV companies need to agree on less aggressive "force you to buy" marketing tactics.
I did not know my free version timed out. Got an unremovable warning that my trial Pro expired. Only option was to buy. Not a good tactic. I didn't activate a free Pro Trial. Nice mind game trick with AVG Representatives.
Also, the industry as a whole needs to get back to friendly chats instead of pay first then talk.
Computer industry was warned before by me on some other matter. They didn't listen to me. Now they are scrambling to get feed back.
Don't listen to me now and watch your stock market or profit drop. Well, my opinion.
You know the old saying, "It's easy for a company like AVG to lose its good reputation and drop like a rock in mid air with no safety net; it's doubly hard (almost impossible) to rebuild public customer trust and confidence." Executive brief: "Easy to lose reputation; hard to build it back up."
Your thoughts please?
Regarding the issues with installing the AVG Free program please follow the instructions on the article http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-reinstall-AVG to reinstall all the traces of the AVG program and install the Free version and check whether it resolves the issue.
Thank you.
