AVG won't install

Hi Priyanga,

Thanks for replying, I followed all the steps as per your instructions but I am still unable to install AVG.  I also disabled my firewall during the install process in case my firewall was blocking acces.  Attacted is the AVG install log.

Hi Santhosh,

The AVG virus definitions have updated but I have not changed th DNS settings, I can only prsume that this was a temporary DNS problem.  Thanks for all your help.

Hello Harry,
We are here to help.
Possibly, this update error might occur due to some intermittent issues with the network server. Let's remove the left over traces of AVG manually and try with the re-installation. Please go to Run window (press windows key and R key simultaneously) and type the following comments to delete the folders manually:
1. Type “Temp” and press enter, remove all the files.
2. “%temp%” and remove all the files.
3. %appdata% - Remove all the AVG folders.
4. %programdata% - Open the AVG folder and remove the old files.
5. Type C: and press enter, delete AVG remover folder.
Please go to c: drive-> program files and delete the AVG files.
Restart your PC and try installing the program from our official website using this link. If you encounter with any error, share the screenshot of the same to assist you further. 
You can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on "Answer" & then click on the "Image" [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.

Just to confirm, are you trying to install AVG AntiVirus free version? If yes, please use offline installer to install the program using this set-up file (https://www.avg.com/en-us/download-thank-you.php?product=FREEGSR-OFFLINE).

AVG wouldn't update it's virus definitions, looking on the forum the suggestion was to reinstall AVG, I removed AVG with AVGclear but now AVG will not install.  Here's the log file.

Hi Priyanga 

I'm trying to install the AVG AntiVirus free version.  Installing the offline version was worked, however the virus definitions are 5 months out of date.  When I try to update the virus definitions all I get is "host unreachable"

Please change your DNS from the network settings and try to update the program again.

Refer this article for changing the DNS settings https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=AVG-Troubleshoot-DNS

Please choose the option "Obtain an IP address automatically" in the network adapter.

Once you configured the DNS, try to update the Virus definition again.

Hi Santhosh,

The AVG virus definitions have updated but I have not changed th DNS settings, I can only prsume that this was a temporary DNS problem.  Thanks for all your help.
