I would like to appreciate your efforts to resolve the issue and re install AVG but apologize for the inconvenience caused to you. Is it a free version of AVG that you are trying to re install? Please try running AVG Clear and Remover tools as mentioned in this article: https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlName=How-to-troubleshoot-issues-after-upgrade-to-the-latest-AVG-antivirus-product to remove traces of failed AVG installation.
Then install AVG Antivirus free 2017 version as per the instructions in this article: http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Download-and-install-AVG-AntiVirus-Free .
Hi Team…I am working on my daughters computer that failed to update AVG some months ago (?? she didn't tell me) She said she didn't notice at the time that the Windows Firewall was also deactivated and wont lock in after each boot. I have tried to reinstall AVG after using the AVG Remover but the install kept failing. I have run some cleaning tools and downloaded some new ones also which found quite a lot of bad data that was deleted. The computer would only boot once out of 5 or 6 attempts. I have run Fixboot, Fixmbr and Chkdsk and it now seems clean and is booting very fast. The Firewall is now stable. However I can't install AVG again, the Event viewer still shows many AVG files that the computer is searching for but are missing when booting and AVG is still showing in Services. Any ideas please, thanks in advance…Bruce
