AVG won't update

Hi,

AVG won't update. This was temporarily resolved when an AVG technician manually reinstalled it. But it hasn't updated since. The first time this happened there was an error message saying host unreachable, this was resolved. Now I get an alert saying the antivirus is out of date, I update it, it tells me it's up to date (even though the definitions are over a month old), then I get an alert saying it's out of date.

We request you to follow the below mentioned steps to change the DNS of your operating system:
1. Press Windows and R keys simultaneously to open Run command.
2. In Run window, type as "ncpa.cpl" without the quotes and click on OK.
3. In Network connections window, please right-click the connection you use, and select Properties.
4. Double-click the Internet Protocol (TCP/IPv4) item on the Networking tab.
5. Click Advanced and select the DNS tab. If there are any DNS server IP addresses listed there, write them down for future reference, and remove them from this window. Click OK.
6) Select "Use the following DNS server addresses":
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4.
7) Click on Apply and Ok.
Once done with this, open AVG Internet Security program and perform the update.
