Avgidsdrivera.sys cpu hog

Hi Oliver,
Please uninstall Spybot to see if it helps (it is not recommended to have multiple real time scanners because of performance issues).
Thanks

thanks Alan, Zbynek

I upgraded to the 2015 version, but I see the exact same problem, subprocess avgidsdrivera.sys is still using over 20% cpu

it seems directly linked to the usage of utorrent, so I guess that subprocess is monitoring all I/O write in the system, and with many I/O threads done by utorrent at the same time, the more cpu that subprocess use to monitory all of them.
still doesnt seems very efficient :/ I only have around 30 or so torrents running, with maybe in average 4 connections by torrent, so roughly 120 write threads, something like that (I dont really know how that is handled in utorrent), thats doesnt seem much for a modern processor, especially for a Xeon which is supposed handling better such kind of workload.

Hi Oliver,
Please send new diagnostic output from 2015 version.
Thanks

I have noticed recently a system process which was taking up to 30% of my procecssor.

I used Process Explorer to try to find out exactly what was hidding behind that "system" process, which showed me the culprit was a subprocess called avgidsdrivera.sys (avgidsdrivera.sys+0x15170 to be precise)

http://www.fafnirden.com/tmp/img/avgidsdriverasys.png

so I tried stoping and re-starting AVG using the systry icon > temporarily deactivate AVG and reactivating it, I see the related subprocess cpu usage drop drastically to around 3% or so.

the problem is that after 1h or so the process is slowly gettign back to the annoying 24~30% cpu usage.

I cant say this happened with the last update, but it is relatively recent, or at least it was not noticable before.

Im using the free version, 2014.0.4765
virus db 4025/8283
linkscanner 2455

cpu is a Xeon L3406 2.27Ghz
my cpu is certainly not the most powerful, but thats also why Im using it because it use very few power

Since im using the free version I dont really expect support for this problem, this is mostly to let you know there is a problem with that avgidsdrivera.sys

best regards
Oliver

Oliver, Re further AVG Community Support expert assistance my previous posting will apply but obviously presently it's not the weekend.

Oliver, Since you've sent the info to AVG it might be as well to wait in case they require anything else. When available (http://forums.avg.com/ww-en/avg-forums?sec=thread&act=show&id=190509) an AVG Community Support expert in Brno, Czech Rep… will respond to your posting @ their earliest convenience but please bear in mind it's now the weekend.

dear Zbynek, Im not sure, is that an answer  "it is probably because of load" ?
I mean, the load is caused by avgidsdrivera.sys, not by utorrent, in fact utorrent use less cpu than avgidsdrivera.sys …
I tried to disable only Identity prodection, but that doesnt free the cpu usage.
the only way to free the cpu usage is it complety stop and start avg, then the cpu usage is back to normal.
so in my opinion whatever avgidsdrivera.sys does it does it wrong

Hi Oliver,
Please try upgrade first to see if it helps.
Thanks

Oliver, Alternatively in order to analyze this issue please send AVG diagnostic output using this tool (http://www.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_SysInfo.exe).
