Boot-Time Scan installation fails

Hi Ranjani,

I tried rebooting Windows.  I then updated AVG Antivirus Free, and tried again to instal the Boot-Time Scan.  It immediately popped up a message "After next restart we run a scan for threats before WIndows starts up", with a red button – which I've slid right to turn green (on).  So after the next reboot, maybe it will run.

Looks like installation has now completed!  And I didn't need to reinstal the software at all.

Thanks,
Yahya

Boot-Time Scan fails to instal.  Progress bar reaches 90%, then stops.  AVG eventually says "Sorry.  There was a problem …" and I have to exit the installation dialogue window.

Same thing's happened three times.  So. what's going on?

[I'm running AVG Free, which has worked pretty well for years, and I keep it up to date.  Operating System is Windows 7 Ultimate, on a dual-core Pentium.]

Hello Yas,

Let's reinstall your AVG Antivirus free and check if that helps. Refer the following article: http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-troubleshoot-issues-after-upgrade-to-the-latest-AVG-antivirus-product to run AVG Clear & Remover tool which uninstall AVG with its traces.

Reinstall your AVG Antivirus free as suggested here:  https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlname=Download-and-install-AVG-AntiVirus-Free and check the status of boot scan.
