Morre, that is a great news to hear and I am pleased to see that you appear to be now sorted. Thanks for returning to the Community & posting. Thank you.

Only starting a week or two ago even opening my bash (bundled with git for Windows) and doing anything in it became painfully sssllllooooooooowwwwwww.

I disabled AVG Free - and bash was lightning fast once again!

I added git.exe and bash.exe to the AVG exceptions but that doesn't help. I can't put the directory in the exceptions because that would be my entire user directory. I'm NOT even in a git directory, and I tried using a prompt (bash variable PS1) that doesn't call git, so it was pure bash. No success, only completely disabling AVG Free helped.

I've a 16GB RAM iCore 7 PC with an SSD. And as I said, the problem only started a week or two or so ago. Wasn't there some new AVG version recently?

For reference, some issues on Stackoverflow:

git - Msysgit bash is horrendously slow in Windows 7 - Stack Overflow

Git Bash is extremely slow on Windows 7 x64 - Stack Overflow
