Tony, I experienced good gazillion hours talking to tech help with absoutely NO resolution!!! The same thing happened to me around the same time when AVG pushed a new version of Virus and Internet Security (paid, not free version!!!) - I had several AVG programs, and had all the same problems you did. NOTHNG worked! The tech gal was really rude, don't even want to get into that now! Turned me off AVG big time, and I had it since first free beta came out! I was really disappointed with the way AVG has gone over the years - prices went up, service went WAY down. Horrible!
Anyway, I uninstalled everything AVG, turned the computer off, turned it back on, then downloaded the latest version (many hours later!!!) and it was obvious that the version they pushed had a gazillion bugs!!! Everything you experienced was the result of a BAD version of AVG they pushed in mid-May! Since tons of people complained (as confirmed by idiotically long waits on telephone hold) they quickly redid it and pushed yet another new version …
I was equally perplexed, the tech would not own up to the fact that all issues were the result of a BAD version … Still have AVG becuase I just renewed subscription in March, but considering going with another app after this subscriptionexpires.
Today - the stupid thing keeps getting stuck at 94% scan (repeatedly) while scannning "performance issues!" Stopped and restarted the scan, restarted computer every time, the stupid thing still gets stuck on the same spot. Methinks I've had it with AVG after many, many years!
I am having the same problem, and i just renew my subscription, I can't complete the deep scan, it gets stuck at 40% or 50% or even 27%, i have tried reinstalling but nothing works, i tried contacting the avg support via chat but it just keep loading without contacting anyone. I dont know what to do.
Scan NEVER compleates Sticks on 99% scaning sensitive docs
Have reinstalled still te same
I am over it!!

Can't, already deleted the files Window Defender detected Win32/Dynamer Trojan. I removed the Trojan immediately because the Trojan is classified as Severe threat level, so not screenshot taken.
I can no longer open the Window Defender with AVG installed, you should know this better than me. I’m more concerned AVG seems to don’t know enough about this Trojan…
You recommend uninstall AVG all over again in order to run Window Defender to see if Window Defender can still find anything AVG not finding? Already spent a lot of time uninstalling then reinstalling AVG…
Can you at least explain why I have AVG and AVG Protection in the Program List?
I remember only made one installation of AVG program. But got 2 listed: AVG version – 1.181.3.3057 & AVG Protection – version 17.4.3014.
Between uninstalled all the AVG programs and reinstalling fresh copy. Window Defender activated. Its scan found Trojan call Win32/Dynamer. Doesn’t seems AVG know and can detect it, since I can’t found any info when search the name of this particular Trojan via AVG. This really makes me worry even when AVG scan report no threats detected. (I did not bring it up as my previous post was long already)
Hello Jacqueline,
We have replied to your original post: https://support.avg.com/answers?id=9060N0000000bXG .
Keep up the conversation in single thread to get further assistance.
Thank you.
Managed to get quick fix to some of issues above. There are more than one AVG products of same name listed under Programs and Features include some sort of add-ons from AVG too for some reason. Trying to unintall all and then reinstall a flesh copy and see if works…
That screenshot was taken from when AVG not working properly: Scan process could never complete and No scans been done for over 20 days due to ‘Daily Scheduled Scan’ I have set before has somehow been turn off without me being aware.
After uninstalled and then reinstalled fresh copy of AVG, I was able to complete full scan properly. The error (23 days ago last scan) did go away.
Given that AVG did not detect any threats, but Window Defender did found Win32/Dynamer Trojan. I’m not really confident AVG can protect against all know Malwares… No indication AVG can detect above Trojan for example.
Have uninstalled all the AVG programs, not sure why there are several installations. Reinstalled a fresh copy downloaded from AVG site, seems to be working for the time being.
Not sure how different versions of AVG got installed. I remember only installed the Free vision before. The interface was different: I was able to set option to do scheduled scan daily from pull down menu, or scan when the Window first started each day, checking log history of previous scans, way quarantined files can be checked also different…
Here is screenshot of what I reported earlier, if that’s still useful to you. You can see it’s been 23 days since the last scan. Should be a few days at most, given that I have set option to schedule scan daily. Somehow version changed without me being aware… Also the lower right corner of screenshot shows the ‘error icon’ which was always there, not specifying what error and just opens up opens the AVG ZEN when clicked. I thought after complete a full scan, it may went away, except the scans can never finish as detailed in my original post.
Also tried a Boot-time scan after reinstalling. Found some files identified as ‘decompression bomb’?
AVG has been working before. I remember the one I installed was the free version. Now it's AVG Internet Security.
There is '!' symbol in the AVG icon in my window8 Taskbar with message: 'Error - Click for more info'. When I click it, it just opens the AVG ZEN. I can see the last scan has been a while 22/23 days ago, so I start the complete scan. But the Scanning process can NEVER finish :(. Yesterday it stuck @ 72% after 4+ hours, tried again today stuck @45%.

AVG Guru
Sorry as said above due to Trojan classified as severe threat level already deleted the file instead of quarantined. Maybe other websites that do know about this Trojan can provide a sample…
I can see it would be helpful to send sample in the cases malwares can be detected but not removed. But what can one do to help in deal with malwares that cannot be detected in the first place?
Would take lot of time. Uninstalling AVG, get another AnrtiVirus program to try and detect any threats, getting sample then remove that AnrtiVirus, then reinstalling AVG again if I want to keep using AVG…

Hello Tony,
AVG did not detect the threat because, the AVG program that was installed in your computer was not working properly due to an update or some conflict issue. Since the threat was already removed by windows defender, after the fresh installation of AVG, it still did not detect any because there were no threats in your computer. Please be informed that the latest version of AVG will detect and remove all the threats from your computer. Please make sure that AVG is up to date and the scans are working fine. This should keep your computer completely protected by AVG.
Thank you
Hello Tony,
We are sorry to hear that. In order to help you better, please provide the screenshot of the window that shows the PC is infected with Trojan.
Thank you.
