Cancelled subscription

I followed the on screen directions to cancel my subscription before renewal. The directions clearly say that after cancellation the product will work until the next subscription and that cancellation must be at least 15 days before renewal date. I cancelled the subscription approximately 30 days before renewal and the product immediately stopped working and apparently I can't get a refund for the unused time.
I wanted and expected the product to work up to renewal date.
