Cannot access certain web pages with Chrome

I cannot access many web pages via Chrome, but when I disable AVG I am them able to access them.  I am running Win 7 with all security updates installed.  

Are there some special settings I need to use?

The Chrome tab opens but the page data fails to load.  The Chrome blue circular rotating “waiting” icon constantly rotates.

Nick,
I am sorry to hear this. Please try to access those websites in any other browser and check if it works fine. Also, repair AVG Antivirus as mentioned in this article ( http://avgread.me/1BVxDSY ) and check the status.
