Hello Derek,
I understand how difficult this must be for you and I apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused. I would suggest you reinstall AVG Internet Security http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Download-and-install-AVG-Protection and change the firewall setting network profiles to check the status.
Please follow the instructions to change the Firewall settings : Open AVG Internet Security -> Click on Menu in the top right corner -> Settings -> Components -> Firewall -> Customize -> Network Profiles -> Change the networks from Public to Private.
On the same Firewall Customize page > AVG ▸ Settings ▸ Components ▸ Firewall ▸ Customize ▸ Policies ▸ System rules > Enable all the configurations and see if you are able to access the server. If you face any difficulties, please let me know to assist further.
Having installed the latest avg internet security 17 on my pc and laptops, I can no longer access my server. I had to uninstall avg component and windows firewall to get it to work (even though server access previously worked with Windows firewall.)
Any advice on how to get to server and network access with the avg firewall?

Derek,
I appreciate your efforts and patience so far. I don't think so if the issue with your domain. First, we need to check which one (Windows firewall or AVG) is causing the issue. So please disable AVG Program completely (Right-click the AVG icon in the system tray next to the clock and turn off the protection temporarily) and check the status.
Hi,
Already have it set as private and have already enabled all the configurations mentioned. My home network is actually on a domain, could that be an issue?
