Hello Mel,
You've reached the AVG community support forum.
I am sorry to hear that your local network is getting blocked by firewall. Need not to worry, I will assist you further in this regard. Every time you connect to a new network, Enhanced Firewall detects if the network is private or public, and automatically applies the relevant settings below:
Private networks (such as your home or work network) require a lower level of security, and are automatically marked as trusted. Each time you connect to a trusted network, Enhanced Firewall permits all communication within the network and applies a lower level of security to enable better connectivity.
Public networks (such as in a cafe or airport) present a greater security risk, and are automatically marked as untrusted. Each time you connect to an untrusted network, Enhanced Firewall blocks all incoming communication and applies a higher level of security to ensure your privacy and safety. Since you are connected with local area wifi, you can follow the below instructions:
- Open AVG Internet Security.
- Click the Web & Email.
- Click Open above Enhanced Firewall.
- Select the Networks tab.
- Click Show settings next to the current network which you are connected with.
- Change it to I trust this network.
I hope this helps resolve your issue! If you’re still having any trouble, or have any questions, feel free to message me. I’d be happy to help.
Thank you for your understanding.
This is not the issue, of course my networks have been marked as trusted, including the VPN network I also use. I am not a novice user and would not be even asking if this issue was so simple to resolve.
I am a fully qualified IT tech myself who has been using AVG and RealVNC Server/Viewer Remote Desktop software for many years without any issues until recently following updates by AVG.
I am running Windows 10 on the server and Windows 11 on my laptop, and all Windows settings are correctly set. A diagnostics test points me to my Firewall, however I cannot see any reasons why it would be blocking my local area WIFI network.
Now I am at a point where I am ready to change my anti-virus software and cancel my subscription f these issues are not resolved soon. If I am having this much of a problem, I would hate to think how difficult of a problem it is for other without IT skills to resolve.

I am more inclined to think this has something to do with my firewall or remote access shield. There use to also be settings under Settings>Full Protection for file sharing but all this seems to have been changed as well.
And please explain to me why I had no issues up until the 8th of September when these troubles began and I have been locked out of my local area WIF network ever since? This shows under my remote access shield's logs.
