Cannot Save Changes In Word Documents after AVG update

Hello Cooper,
Let's work together to fix it.
Do you have AVG Internet Security on your device?
Are you able to save the documents when AVG is disabled?
If you haven't tried it yet, right click on AVG icon under system tray next to clock, click on toggle bar to disable it temporarily.

Do you have AVG Secure Browser installed on your PC? Does the documents still show AVG icon? If yes, share the screenshot (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlname=How-to-create-a-screenshot) of the same to assist further. 

You can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on "Answer" & then click on the "Image" [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.

This morning I came in and AVG had done an update.  Now, when we open a document and make changes, we get an error message "Word cannot complete the save due to a file permission error"  and cannot save our changes.  Also, once we save the document with a new name, the original file is not found. 

Please help.  Thank you.

Thank you for responding so quickly.

When it updated this morning, it apparently installed AVG Internet Security and changed all of the .pdf documents and other files to the AVG icon.  After I began having issues with saving the Word documents, I  noticed that the AVG I.S. had been installed and I uninstalled it.

I have disabled AVG and still had the issue.  Again this only started after the update.

Any other recomendations?

Cooper, 

Please double click on the documents and select 'Properties'. You will get a new dialog box opened, select 'change' and choose your default format. 

Keep us updated on the progress.

The documents in Word all have Word selected as the program to open with.  I fixed the .pdf issue earlier.  We are trying to figure out why AVG will not let us save changes to previously saved documents.  We have to save them with other names and the original file is unaccessable.  Again, this is only after the update from AVG.
