Kind of. I figured it out eventually. You have to boot into Safe Mode before you can run the AVG Clear tool at all. Otherwise it just sits there with it's startup progress bar going back and forth like a Cylon. The AVG Remove tool didn't do anything, before or after successfully running the Clear tool. It just spins.
So, for anyone else tearing their hair out:
1. Boot into Safe Mode
2. Run the Clear tool.
3. You're done.

We regret for the inconvenience caused. Run AVG Clear tool again and click 'Yes' when the tools asks you to boot in safe mode. After running the tool in safe mode, boot in normal mode, run AVG Remover tool, click 'Run anyway' and wait for the tool to finish.
I want to remove AVG from my machine (windows 10).
Tried "Add Remove Programs" = "Can't find lsetup,exe"
Downloaded the AVG_Remover.exe. Says that it can't find any active AVG software (even though I'm still getting AVG popups and all AVG software is still running. Tried "Run anyway". It says "working" forever, but doesn't actually remove anything
Downloaded the AVG_Clear,exe tool. Hangs on startup with a progress bar that just goes back and forth.
Tried disabling the AVG Components service in system startup settings. It ignores the Disable button.
Tried deleting all the AVG files under Program Files (X86) - access denied, even as admin.
At this point, AVG is the virus, and it's hijacked my computer. How do I get rid of this thing?
