Can't remove lingering parts of AVG

Hi Caleb,
Sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with AVG uninstall. We request you to run the 2017 version of AVG remover tool and 2016 version as well to remove AVG completely.
Download and run AVG Clear tool: https://share.avg.com/steam/PSP/AVG2017/AVG_Clear.exe. This tool will help with removing antivirus component of AVG 2017 and its traces.

Open tool
User Account control - click "Yes"
Windows safe mode - click "No"
Choose installed version (AVG Free, AVG Internet Security)
Click "Uninstall"
Click "Restart computer"

After restart, run AVG Remover and remove all other supported products and remnants of AVG (ZEN, Framework,…).

Open AVG_Remover.exe (http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe)
User Account control - click "Yes"
Click "CONTINUE"
Select all products, and click "Remove"
Click "Restart" and restart PC
If is displayed dialog window after restart, click "Run" and let AVG Remover remove traces
If is AVG Remover asking for restart PC, restart PC again.

I have been trying for two days to remove AVG from my laptop. I have run the AVG Remover tool several times, and used third party uninstallers, however I am still getting prompts to update my AVG services, and AVG is still running background processes that it will not let me terminate. How can I get rid of all of these?
