Without being able to see what is happening it is hard to estimate what the situation is.
Have you tried the steps provided in this article: How to troubleshoot issues after upgrade to the latest AVG antivirus product?
Note: Please run the AVG Clear first and then the AVG Remover

Hi there, I have installed Kaspersky and wanted to uninstall AVG free addition, but I have not been able to do so. I followed instructions from this support forum (someone else's question and answers) including the links for the uninstall tools for windows 10, but nothing so far has worked. I am locked out of Thunderbird mail, which is making life very difficult.
When the uninstall tools are run in safe mode, it comes back saying wrong version of windows.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to unistall AVG? The most current version which will work on the current version of windows 10?
