Change untrusted network to "I trust this network"

The AVG documentation tells me I can select the "I trust this network" button to change the status of the network. But when I click on this button, it immediately reverts to "untrusted network." I am having huge problems trying to get my new laptop to sync with my printer. My laptop is considered an untrusted network!
