Chrominio Virus

Good morning.
Chromium was not in my program list. Tried a few things. I searched my hard drive and found a directory called chromium which I removed. Did an deep AVG virus scan and found a couple of viruses: Win32:malware-gen and Win32:opencandy-D (PUP) which i deleted. In my program list I saw a program, 'open candy' (or similar name) which I unenstalled. Re-booted machine and about 100+ empty windows opened which showed c:users\steve\appdata\local\temp\go.hta. Using CCleaner did a registry and file clean up. Did another deep scan, all ok, then malwarebytes, nothing. Re-booted then, hey presto, pop up message gone and everything seemed ok. Has AVG come accross the 'chrominio' virus (note the spelling)? I cannot see anything on their virus search bar…unless I am looking in the wrong place! There are a lot of articles on the web.
Many thanks, and have a great day.

Good morning, Steve.

We will check with it. It seems that there is new version update available for Chrome browser. Could you share the screenshot http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-create-a-screenshot of the popup you received to check and assist you further?

Good morning.
Will AVG remove the Chrominio Virus? I have looked on the web and tried different things but still get the pop up 'New chromium version is available' A cannot see any reference  to it on the AVG site. Many thanks. Steve

Good morning.

Please find attached a screen shot as requested.

I do not use Chrome, I still use Internet Explorer V11. I am running Windows 10.
When I switch on the machine and log in with my user name, everything is ok. It loads the desktop icons ok. It then automatically loads a browser, which one I don’t know. After a few seconds it goes off and the above message appears.
When I start my own browser, I have a favourite which loads google search. I cannot enter anything unless I enter a letter then click the mouse, then enter a letter, and click the mouse.
I hope this helps.
Have a good day.

Best Regards

We'd like to confirm that Chrominio is a potentially unwanted program. We appreciate your efforts to check and remove the unknown applications and files from your PC. Open AVG Internet Security, click on Menu -> Settings -> General. Then select "Scan for potentially unwanted applications" and click OK to save the settings.

Thank you for the screenshot.
It looks like you have installed a browser named "Chromium".
It can be easily uninstalled from control panel.
For uninstallation, refer this article: http://avgread.me/1DEtNP0 .
If you see Chromium in the list, proceed with the uninstallation.
Feel free to contact us if you need further help.
