I was having trouble with Windows Update and lost my ability to connect to the internet outside of Safe mode. So, I disabled AVG and my firewall and seemed to find a solution to my connectivity problem.
I rechecked the setting for free AVG anti-virus and everything looks normal. But when I try to Update or Scan my computer, I get an error message, usually that the "connection is off-line". But I'm connected to the internet (as evidenced by this message) so that isn't the problem. Sometimes when I try to scan my computer, I'm taken to a screen with "Reports" at the top but it's just blank, no action is being taken.
I've checked the regular setting and advanced settings and the program is enabled. But I can't seem to get it working. Any ideas? Or do I just have to uninstall the program and reinstall it completely? It seems like users should be able to simply disable and reenable a security program without problems but that doesn't seem to be the case.
