"Connection with update server failed"

Hello James. Thank you for trying all the instructions provided earlier. Do you use any proxy settings in your internet connection? If so, please disable it and try updating AVG. I also recommend you to disable or uninstall any third party firewall from your computer and then try updating. Thank you.

You are most welcome James. Please feel free to contact us should you need any further assistance. Thank you.

Tried this twice - no good. Just as reference, the computer runs XP with whatever the last update was.
Thanks, Jim

I have two computers with AVG. One is fine, but the other crashed and I had to reload the operating system. Managed to get AVG reloaded with proper licensing info, etc., but I can't get it to update. Carefully followed the troubleshooting tips for checking/configuring the Internet connection to no avail. I can update the other computer without a problem. The I'net connection on the problem computer is just fine. Help!!!

Hello James. I apologize for the inconvenience caused. I would request you to run AVG remover tool based on your OS (32-bit or 64-bit) to completely remove AVG and then re install. To determine whether your OS is a 32-bit or 64-bit, please click on this link. http://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/827218

Please feel free to contact us back for any further assistance. Thanks.

I have tried both removal tools and several different downloads of the installation EXE. The problem still persists. Is there anything that could be interfering with the downloads of updates? Should I try to install 2014's version instead? The remove/install suggestions you keep responding with just don't do anything to help. Thank you.
