Hi Guys big thanks for confirming this is not a problem, I have seen this come up on numerous PCs with window 7 64 bit using AVG, there are alot of sites suggesting it is a problem and i figured it could be a registry issue but after running all efforts to repair including the sfc scan i was stuck as sfc never noticed the error and i could see no actual reports of issues in the admin tools, has settled my mind now as usually when i encounter a problem i usually can fix it. Just wish everyone else knew lol pooor sods trying to fix an issue which is just a false report

Updating all of you about mfc45.dll
First of all, it is not a core MS file at all. It doesn’t come within the MS package or anything else. I even didn’t found any such file within my Syswow64 folder in my MS Windows 7 installation drive.
I learned about this over Microsoft official website and other popular websites such as www.fixinfectedpc.com and www.nowremovevirus.com as well.
Hello Andrea, this file is required for System Restore feature of your Operating System. So please go ahead and add the file to whitelist as instructed. Please feel free to contact us should you need any further assistance.
Hi Kenza,
Thanks for your quick reply. Other forums report this as a malware, are you definitely sure that it will be safe to add this file to the exceptions?
Thank you
My AVG scanner keeps finding a corrupted file called C:/Windows\SysWOW64\mfc45.dll I've had a look online, but no one is clear about this. AVG detects it and moves it to virus vault, but it keeps coming out every time I do a scan. I have also tried to remove it with FreeFixer, but it keeps coming back. Does anybody know what it is and if it's dangerous or if it is a false positive?
