Deletion of duplicate files

John, Did you resolve your issue with AVG?.

I recently ran PC Tune up, including various recommendations to improve overall performance.  These included deleting duplicate files. When i next went to access my accountIng files, all of the data was gone (30years of accounting data).  It appears that PC Tune up has misidentified numerous files as duplicates because they had similar labels, although the content was different.  The files labels still exist, but all of the content is gone.  None of it appears to be in the recycle bin.  Is there anything that I can do to retrieve the content? I tried reversing the PC Tune up actions, but that did not restore the data.

Not exactly. I spoke on the phone yesterday with a tech, who eventually advised that there was no recovery possible.  However, as a last resort, I tried restoring the entire recycle bin in case the files were hidden, and that turned out to be the case. So although AVG didn’t resolve the problem, I have been able to recover the files. I think that PC Tune-up needs to be fixed so that this can’t happen.
