Hello David,
We will explain this. During the installation of AVG, you will find the check box to "Install AVG Secure browser".
If it is checked, the browser will get installed along with the program's installation.
Once it is installed, the PDF files will get changed to HTML format and this is to make sure that all applications are securely opened via our browser.
This happens only when the user grants permission to make the changes.
If you would like to change the file format, right click on any of the PDF file and select "properties–>change".
Select the necessary PDF application that you have installed and click "Apply–>Ok".
Once this is done, all the PDF files will open with the application that you have chosen.
Thank you.
I just updated my AVG subscription to Internet Security. On restart, I find that my default browser has become AVG secure browser and all my desktop 'pdf' icons have been changed from Adobe Acrobat to AVG browser icons. I managed to get back to using Chrome as my default browser but cannot somehow undo the icon change. Why all this enforced hassle please, just for being a loyal customer? And any way back to Adobe icons? Thanks, Dai.
