Download/Upload Speeds dropping by 83% - 90% using VPN

Hello Baron,

We regret the inconvenience caused. You may experience a slower internet connection when using AVG Secure VPN. This is because a VPN encrypts traffic and data before sending it to a server. Depending on the distance and capacity of the server, this process may cause a slightly slower, but safer, internet connection.

Please click 'Change location', connect to different server locations and check if the issue persists.
Thank you.

I am using 1GB fiber optic service with a normal Download speed of 934MB and Upload speed of 721MB with 1ms ping.
While using AVG Secure VPN my speeds are dropping my Download speeds to 93MB - 161MB, and Upload speeds 57MB - 155MB. I have changed testing locations in order to get better numbers up to the 161MB and the 155MB respectively with 6 - 19ms pings. I saw the posted drop %'s  in the advertisement as 50% but this is more like 83% - 90% on average. Do you know how to improve this by chance? Because the VPN is useless if it cripples my internet.

We're sorry to hear that you feel that way, Baron.
