Well AVG, you can add me to the disgruntled user pile as well now you removed this useful feature. I recommend that you add it back in again. Why would you remove it? Where is is alleged "feedback" asking you to remove it? Why would you not just leave it in and those that dont want it, dont click on the feature?
Thank you for YOUR understanding!
I really miss this feature - I was willing to pay for it, and now that it has been removed, I'm thinking of not renewing. It was really useful.
I will try to use the old version so that I can have the duplicate file finder.
Paul, I can assure that your feedback is forwarded to our developers and you can expect the features for AVG TuneUp new version as informed by my colleague Balasubramanian…
Well, here's another tidbit for you. This new monitoring for leaked passwords is WAY too expensive, and, the way it is without paying an exorbitant fee to AVG, it provides NO information. Maybe if I we willing to throw more money into the AVG well I might see what use it is, but I AM NOT WILLING TO THROW more of my money out the window.
I got two hits. One of them I never heard of and, since it was 2 years ago, and I can not determine where it was leaked to change the **************** password. This report is useless. The other one is also useless, it was over 5 years ago and has a partial password that I can not find in my hundreds of different passwords. I have to PAY to use the 'free' trial ( I don't think so). This is also a useless report.
You, AVG, would do better to remove this useless "CARP" and get 'Duplicate File Finder' back as promised last year (and the year before). Right now I have no intention of renewing my subscription that I have been paying for since about 2016 (or before).
I need this program now where the hell did it go
Hello AVG Community and all past and present participants of this post. Again, this is Shawn, and I am writing to you on behalf of the AVG Senior Support team.
I last wrote on this thread, in April 2020, that our development team is working toward adding future product features in AVG Tuneup, specifically the Duplicate Finder, to be added in 2020, as referenced in the following TuneUp - FAQs, https://is.gd/kOhslh.
I get it that it is now 2021 and said feature(s) have not yet been released. I have taken it upon myself to communicate with the development team, and I can assure you that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. However the proposed time of release is still undertimed, but is expected in the near future.
Your continued patience is very much appreciated. Best Regards, Shawn
Please reinstate the duplicate file finder. You deleted one of the most useful functions of AVG Tuneup!!
@Shawn Engleman, could you update on your post of Feb 7th regarding re-instating duplicate file finder? Thanks
Wow! This is really dissapointing. It was one of the best features - and one of the key resons I pay for a subscription. If this doesn't come back - I will not bother renewing. PLEASE FIX ASAP!
We followed these instructions on going back to the older version, AVG did reupdate on us and now the older version will not reinstall. Basically made AVG useless to me. You may say clear cache, etc etc, we did everything including formatting. Your download of the older version does not work for us.
You say it was removed based on feedback, well feedback here is saying that was a mistake. I have already contacted your support team months ago to provide feedback and they couldn't care less.
Get your act together if you want to keep our business.
Kyle, we're sorry to hear that you are not happy with the changes made.
Of course, we are still working on the product and new features are being added to it, also based on customer inquiries and comments. Therefore we would appreciate your feedback.
Please contact our technical support team (https://support.avg.com/support_contact_form?l=en&retUrl=support_Internet_Security) so they can collect your valuable feedback and forward it to our developers.
I just bought a two years one computer license happy about the duplicate removal tool, after installing it and clicking all the possible buttons, I now see it is not there. Then Google brought me here and I am so dissapointed, I basically paid to use that function alone … and it is not there. Now my money are gone and the function too. I really wonder who asked AVG to remove that super good function … maybe the current software is also ok, but without that tool for me is a waste of money.
Thank you for this thread, John Steffens
I'm an Ex 'Oz' AVG reseller, 15 years trading, small turnover computer fixer.
I wondered the same thing, degraded to the old version and realized Avast~AVG has losted the plot as to why knowledgeable computer users HAD used AVG tuneup/Antivirus in general. I'll used the old version, thank you. I don't need 'dumbed down' programs.
My other protection and fix programs are now elsewhere. You're going to have to lift your game…Avast.
I'm with John and the others. I do not believe this decision was based in any feedback from users. It sounds like a spoonfull of bullcrap. You guys took it out with some other agenda in mind, like selling that featuire separately. I have been an AVG software user for a very long time, but unless the duplicate finder is brought back as one of the features of AVG Tune Up I will not be renewing my subscription come October this year. Moreover, I feel cheated: I paid for something a year and a half ago and now AVG just decides to change the rules in the middle of the game. That's wrong. You should rectify this. The inexistent users who gave AVG the feedback to remove duplicate finder ability could, if they existed, simply not use that feature. It was not like the program would run it on its own. Please do not insult our intelligence with that positioning.
AVG ultimate is not what it use to be. AVG ultimate was thee package and it is downgraded. I did get a 2 year package and what I recieve know is not what I have exspected. Will the duplicate file finderd be seen this year or not because I know alot of the third party packages that do come out with this function but have desided to chuse you because AVG have not drop me yet. I vote that this function needs to be enabled soon. This is the first time that I have seen that software developers don't improve on a package that we love. So for this year I rate AVG as the wearse antivirus package when it comes to tuneups and I think that there is others that feels the same.
I'm here to chuck my complaint onto the pile as well.
Recently renewed AVG Tuneup and just went to sort through some large volumes of data with the Duplicate file finder… and its gone. This is like the Datasafe function all over again, really useful parts of AVG just removed without explanation. The duplicate file finder was the most useful part of Tuneup, if its not reinstated I'll be after a refund. I'm getting fed up with buying programs for specific functions only for them to be quietly removed part way through the subscription!
Sort it out AVG. I'm another long time customer who will be looking elsewhere!
Just been impacted by the same issue above so adding to the feedback that removing the duplicate file remover is a very poor decision. It was one of the most useful features in the TuneUp product and the primary reason for my subscription for it.
Also agree with the view that not acceptable to remove major features in a product under subscription model, at least not within the duration of a subscription or the option to cancel the subscription and receive a pro-rata refund for the remaining months already paid for.
Like others have been an AVG customer for many years and recommneded to others which won't be happening any more. Also like others I won't be renewing subscription as a result of this decision

Chat, chat, chat. I say, - have your development team read the comments on this incident. I posted, here, everything that you need to know. If YOU, are unwilling to pass this on to the 'Senior Development Team' then it is on YOU when I stop renewing.
As I said, AVG has until next year to bring back this much desired functionality or suffer the consequences.
I have heard that same crap about tell us this way, tell us that way. YOU are customer support and YOU should be forswarding this to the appropriate people, not me.
You need not reply to this as I will not respond unless you tell me of the restored functionality.
Seems like I arrivced late to this party. I first started using AVG because of the duplicate files function. I now have a subscription to almost all of your products. Somehow I just realised the duplicate file finder is not there anymore. I just assumed it was a part of the clean up. I see that you supposedly got feedback that peaople didnt notice files was removed. What about having the feature. But leave it out of the scan function having people knowingly press the duplicate file finder and add a prompt when they use it? surley they dont delete something they didnt want to that way? Oh btw. Add me to the want duplicate file finder back pile.
