I have the same problem as well.
Error 0xE0010406 during the installation of AVG IS.
I have recently uninstalled it while I was trying to fix the recent Win10 KB4038788 bug.
I have even tried with the AVG remover tool, no other antivirus program has been installed on that machine except for MS Defender.
Please note that MS Defender is currently running.
Any other idea ?

Just purchased AVG for the first time and tried to install on Windows 10 Home, 64bit, version 1511
But getting Error code 0xE0010406 on multiple attempts to install.
I've seen previous suggestions to use AVG remover tool - which is stupid since I've never had an install before.
Not a great first experience of AVG products.
Any suggestions on the solution would be welcome...

Damiano, With Win 10 Windows Defender is classified as an AntiVirus prog which will conflict with AVG so during the installation process this will be auto disabled.

There are no AVG applications currently or previously installed on my PC.
I do have McAfee antivirus installed which I am now uninstalling and attempting to reinstall the AGV in administrator mode…
