Excessively Long Deep Scan

hi and thanks for your response. The reason that I asked is because I always deep scan at least twice a week including my back up disk, and that usually takes 1 or 2 hours. But because of the 3 trojans located twice by Avg I deep scanned the back up disk to be certain that everything was checked.

Since my first post the scan is still showing 97% but I can see it accessing my photos, and after that it should move to my music. It's just that it has never taken this long before.

Solved, the scan finished today after 145 hours, 30 minutes, 9 seconds, and…31,624,320 files.

Many thanks for your assistance and input.

Barney

Hi
Avg recently identified the same trojan in three of my files and they were quarantined and deleted. Because this happened twice and I've kept my web activity within safe area's, I scanned my mac 3Tb backup disk which still has 1.7gb free space. That was last week, it's still scanning and has reached 97% but it's been that for the last 4 days and so far it is free from any virus, trojans, or pups.

It's also a "deep scan" and I'm wondering because it is taking so long if I've set it too high (I can't remember the setting) or if it's down to something else. My mac meanwhile is very slow and I have 24gb memory.

Any information would be appreciated. Thanks

Barney

Hi Barnes,

We are glad to know that.
Please let us know if you have any concern with AVG.
Thank you.

Hello Barnes,

We will certainly take a look into this for you.
As deep scan performs an in-depth scan of your system that checks your storage drives and memory for malware, it will take some time than usual.
Would you be so kind and let us know whether the scan struck at 97% or it is in progress with 97%?
Keep us posted on the progress.

Thank you for keeping us posted, Barnes.
It could take some time to complete the deep scan if your disk space is more. It is purely depends on the drives/files within your device.
We appreciate your patience in this case.
