I tried a 30 day trial of the Internet security suite on my personal computer, to see if it's appropriate for later purchase for my internet/game cafe.
While it was valid, my personal machine performed well. However, the trouble started when it expired. Now, large file downloads greater than 100MB fail after the first 30MB. Opening web pages with heavy Flash or Image usages have to be refreshed MULTIPLE times before any content comes across. Even access to the AVG support page had to be refreshed MULTIPLE times before content came through / appeared.
I've made sure the internet connections were valid, traffic flowing per appropriate protocols, firewall settings and proxy connection settings were appropriate set, latest version of web browsers were applied (Firefox, Chrome, and Explorer). I spent over 10 man hours in diagnostics before finding the source issue. As soon as I turned off 'AVG protection' from the tool bar, everything worked!!! Large files downloaded, pages loaded without the need of refresh. This won't do to buy a product only to have to turn it off to make the system useful.
Attempts to remove/uninstall the web component and just go with the standard Antiviral component has met with failure (again, on my personal machine and not a business machine). At this time I feel that the web component is now acting like Ransomware itself. Not allowing me to use my internet access, or access the virus scanner without 'purchasing' the undesired web component.
QUESTION: How can I remove the web component and it's annoying BLOCKAGE screen to the virus scanner section (with the nice purchase now button), while maintaining the other components that I've previously purchased?
