Failed - virus scan failed

I have updated all AVG programmes and have restarted my PC.
AVG Anti virus free is the programme I am using.

Hi, I am unable to download any file at all. I get the error 'Failed - virus scan failed'. I need to be able to download files. Please help. Thanks

Did you try to update virus definitions and AVG up-to-date?

I uninstalled the AVG software. I tried to reinstall it but I am getting the same error as I am not able to download. Can you help?
