Thank you and keep us updated.
I have 2 PCs in my home networked together running Windows 10 with AVG on both of them. Yesterday I started getting a report of "Incoming connection blocked" and the report named it as SMB:BruteForce whenever one of these PCs booted up (the report being from the other PC).
I haven't changed anything and I do not have any drives on one PC mapped on the other PC (although they do both have mappings to a shared NAS drive) so why start reporting this?
Have AVG changed something and done a background update that I didn't know anout ?
regards
PhilipJ
Hi,
thanks for the advice.
I do keep RAS active at all times for the reasons you describe.
Oddly I seem to have fixed the issue by changing a Windows setting for File Sharing connections (on the PC where AVG was raising the warning) from 128-bit encryption to "Enable file sharing for devices that use 40 or 56 bit encryption". Now when I get my other PC to create a "mapped drive" link AVG no longer objects!
regards
Philip
Hi,
sorry my mistake but I did have the hard drive of the PC generating the message mapped on the other PC so I understand the comment that said it was "using File and Print sharing", but why is it being reported as Threat SMB:BruteForce ?
