I have just (1st Oct 2014) installed Filezilla - a popular open-source FTP client. Version 3.9.0.5
I downloaded the installer from a link to Sourceforge on the official web page (Download FileZilla Client for macOS (Intel))

After installing and running filezilla, I then opened a chrome browser and logged in to the website of my hosting provider. When I logged in I thought I noticed something happen in the bottom left corner of the browser (like when you download a file). Then, chrome poped up a window asking if I wanted to "translate the page". I discovered that it wanted to translate from Ukrainian to English, which struck me as odd because the hosting website just appeared to be in english already.

I became suspicious and did a virus scan of the whole computer but it didn't catch anything. I did a google search for Filezilla virus or trojans and found a blog entry from Avast about malformed filezilla installations that contain a login stealer.

So, the question is, could I have downloaded an infected installer?
if so, what do I do about it?
